Cozaar is usually taken once a day with or without food, or as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects of Cozaar include dizziness, lightheadedness, and upper respiratory infections such as the common cold. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Serious side effects include fainting, symptoms of a high potassium blood level (such as muscle weakness, slow/irregular heartbeat), and changes in the amount of urine.

What are the potential interactions?

Cozaar can interact with other medications, especially those that raise potassium levels (such as ACE inhibitors and potassium supplements), lithium, and drugs that may increase the risk of angioedema (blood vessel swelling), such as ACE inhibitors or NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
