Azopt
Azopt (Brinzolamide) is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used to lower intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or glaucoma. It works by reducing the production of aqueous humor in the eye, which decreases pressure within the eye.
How is this medication used?
Azopt is typically administered as one drop into the affected eye(s) three times a day, or as directed by your healthcare provider. It is important to follow your healthcare provider's instructions closely and not to skip doses. Before using, shake the bottle well.
What are the possible side effects?
Common side effects of Azopt include blurred vision, bitter, sour or unusual taste, dry eyes, and discomfort in the eye. More serious side effects can include allergic reactions, severe eye irritation, and changes in vision. If you experience any severe side effects, you should contact your doctor immediately.
What are the potential interactions?
Azopt can interact with other eye medications, especially other carbonic anhydrase inhibitors and topical beta-blockers. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements, to avoid potential interactions.
