How is this medication used?

Darifenacin should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken once a day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water and do not crush, chew, or break it. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. It’s important to continue taking darifenacin even if you feel well, and do not stop taking it without first discussing it with your doctor.

Common side effects of darifenacin include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, and stomach upset. Drinking plenty of water, eating dietary fiber, and exercising can help prevent constipation. If you experience severe side effects such as difficulty passing urine, severe stomach/abdominal pain, or signs of a serious allergic reaction (such as rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing), contact your doctor immediately.

Darifenacin can interact with other medications, such as anticholinergic drugs, antifungal drugs (like ketoconazole, itraconazole), antibiotics (such as clarithromycin, erythromycin), and drugs that affect liver enzymes which remove darifenacin from your body (such as rifamycins, St. John's wort). It is important to tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal products, to prevent possible interactions.
