How is this medication used?

The medication should be taken exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Stalevo is usually taken multiple times a day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole without crushing or chewing it. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, and insomnia. Some people may experience muscle cramps, loss of appetite, heartburn, or increased sweating. Severe side effects may include hallucinations, severe mood changes, unusual strong urges (such as increased gambling, sexual urges), and difficulty urinating. Stalevo may interact with certain antidepressants, antipsychotics, MAO inhibitors, blood pressure medications, anticholinergic drugs, and iron supplements. Alcohol and other CNS depressants may increase drowsiness effects. Dopamine antagonists and MAO inhibitors can significantly affect how Stalevo works and may lead to serious side effects.
